Why Our Healthy Habit Building System Works 100% of the Time
It’s a big claim, huh?
But we stand by it! Here’s why our approach to healthy habit building works.
Quick refresher on some habits you already have:
Walking
Driving
Writing
You get the point: they are things that you focused on learning at one point, but no longer need to actively practice in order to do.
That is the approach we take with your health.
Instead of picking something from all six pillars of health to focus on at once, we take one step at a time. Yes, this takes patience and it takes commitment to the process, but by doing so you do it in a way that you can develop habits. Once you develop habits you don’t have to think about them again, and it’s onto the next.
We start small, by focusing on one item at a time.
Whatever it is that we are focusing on, it should push you just a touch outside your comfort zone, but not too much. Our weekly goal should be something we can do 90-100% of the time- without fail. Depending on the goal, it might take us 2-4 weeks (sometimes longer, depending on the specifics of our focus) to establish it as a habit.
Once you’ve created a habit, we add another goal, piggy-backing on the momentum we’ve already created.
This approach may seem slow moving to start. But once we’re a few months in, we can look back at the progress we’ve made. Small, consistent steps make a huge difference.
Consistency breeds confidence. Confidence gives us courage to take on the next challenge. This is why our process works. For those that stay patient, we can guarantee it will work for you.
But wait, you’re thinking. Isn’t this something I can just do on my own? \
Absolutely, in fact here’s a checklist of things to work on. Now get to it!
Usually it’s not that simple. Life gets in the way. Kids need help with something, the dog needs to be walked, your boss keeps asking about that thing…
This is what we’re here for. Your health coach is will help you keep the train on the tracks when things come up. Over and over again our clients talk about the impact of accountability. That, along with identifying next steps, is the secret sauces to “our process.”
